Getting to the Heart of the Matter

09 Jun 2015 | Work

At Anchor Films, we believe authentic stories can be exceptionally compelling, so the goal of this film for the Parkview Foundation was to tell true stories of patients the Foundation has assisted, narrated by staff members and using actors as stand-ins to safeguard patient privacy.

At just over four minutes, this is one of the longer pieces we’ve done; we think you’ll find that every second is worth it.

Room for Ideas

30 Apr 2015 | Day to Day

We get asked all the time about our space–here’s how it all came together:

When we set out to build a film company, we felt it important to have a space where our big ideas could roam free, a place that embodied our values of hard work and craftsmanship, and where we could grow as a company, both practically and creatively. This is that space.

With reclaimed tabletops cut right here in our Midwestern backyard, an abundance of natural light, and beer in the fridge, we love our home and invite you to stop by.

Theoplis Smith: Living in Color

13 Apr 2015 | Artist Profile

For Theoplis Smith, emotion drives the creative process. His work is full of rich colors and richer subjects; his brushstrokes are packed with energy.

“I’m really big on how people feel, how I feel,” he explains. “A feeling that can be captured and put on pause through my artwork.”

Creation is a constant compulsion for Smith — he’s been known to paint massive pieces on his lunch breaks at work — and he’s fast. Watching him paint live is like playing a video at twice the speed; his hands move with an erratic rhythm as he pours color after vibrant color on the canvas.

Kevin Mattison: Street Producer

07 Apr 2015 | Behind the Scenes

On a recent Monday, Kevin Mattison was conducting pre-interviews for a brand film, finalizing the timeline for a long-term, multi-shoot project, and editing rough cuts of a series of testimonial videos. As a producer at Anchor Films, his job is to work with specific projects from concept to completion, ensuring that the final product is a work of art.

The Essentials

23 Feb 2015 | Work

Last fall, Indiana Tech contacted us about collaborating on a series of films. The objective was to create an organic expression of campus life — from the beautiful and convenient location to the lively and diverse student body.

Producing six films simultaneously meant project management would be key. This was especially important when it came to interviews — we captured 97 students’ stories in three days.

Simon and Simon and Garfunkel: A Valentine’s Revue

18 Feb 2015 | Events

We know it’s easy to do the same ol’, same ol’ on Valentine’s Day, so this year we did our best to help you out.

For one night only, Anchor Films joined forces with O’ Sister, Brother, director Hayley Johnson, and a crew of actors to present Simon and Simon and Garfunkel – an original medley of scenes from Neil Simon plays combined with covers of Simon and Garfunkel. The show was a rousing success, with a full house of attendees all dressed to the nines. Custom cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were provided by Empyrean.

Taking it to the Skies: Aerial Cinematography

15 Jan 2015 | Behind the Scenes

We recently wrapped up a major campaign for Indiana Tech. Part of the objective was to showcase the beauty of the campus, and one of the best ways to do that is through aerial cinematography. This would also allow us to highlight the campus’ proximity to downtown Fort Wayne.

To get the look we wanted, we knew we’d need to hire a solid crew and a great rig, so we called up CameraBee, out of Indianapolis, and they hooked us up with the setup below (including an Octocopter, a MOVI, and a RED Epic).
